This one is very true, and I am actually wondering why the “Gang of Four” missed this in their book on the subject:
The Ghetto Pattern. Read about it here.
The only problem is that the Ghetto in the current code that I am working on is about 4% of the entire codeline. Holy HUGE Ghetto, batman.
And with Nicola Ken, talking about exception handling, this week we might take on a little more ugliness in our lives that we used to deem as a “necessary evil”.

Just finished installing Subversion 0.23. Also installed TortoiseSVN 0.11.2, and the Windows SVN 0.23 binaries.

Well, it’s officially alive. Tonight I plugged in some of the directory indexing code as well as the ability to save settings, and below is a crappy screenshot of all of the files beginning with ‘cv’ in my c:\usr\bin directory:

Now, I have to figure out how to execute these things, then I can recruit Alex in the UI department to ’spruce it up’. Let’s see how fast he comments on this

Just had brunch on the bay with Amanda and Evie. It was a great day. I got sunburn on the face, but it was a great day. Wished I had the camera as I went under the Golden Gate as the clouds started rolling in. This digital photography thing can get pretty expensive though…
Had a great day yesterday as well, come to think of it. Went down to Palo Alto to druel all over the 17, then to wine tasting, some art gazing, met up with the Lemur, and then went to Border’s to bullshit and look at books.
This has been one of the first weekends that I have actually felt relaxed in a while.

Finally got subversion up on dotnot tonight.
The problem was apache using Berkeley DB 3, and subversion using/needing db4. When it is all said and done, I dropped the cvs head of apr and apr-util, and opted to use the versions that shipped with Apache 2.0.45.
Now I can start importing my code into svn.
